Test Your Monitor Settings
Most LCD monitors will
not need any adjustment whatsoever, but if you have a CRT
monitor, you might need to adjust it. If you can see all
eleven shades of gray (0-100%) on the rectangle below, your
monitor is set correctly. If you can’t distinguish all the
shades, first try adjusting your monitor’s brightness and
contrast controls. If several of the shades remain
indistinguishable, you may also have to adjust the gamma
for your monitor, which is normally a setting in your
operating system.
