Test Your Monitor Settings

Most LCD monitors will not need any adjustment whatsoever, but if you have a CRT monitor, you might need to adjust it. If you can see all eleven shades of gray (0-100%) on the rectangle below, your monitor is set correctly. If you can't distinguish all the shades, first try adjusting your monitor's brightness and contrast controls. If several of the shades remain indistinguishable, you may also have to adjust the gamma for your monitor, which is normally a setting in your operating system.
